Al DODSON
Al Dodson is
a third generation northwest native, born and raised in the Puget Sound
area. Although he has had the opportunity to travel some, he has never
been tempted to leave his beloved northwest for any length of time because
of its scenic beauty, diversity of habitat and because of his great
attachment to its native flora.
Educated in botany and associated with
the nursery industry from an early age, he has had the opportunity to
become intimately familiar with plants of all kinds. He loves
photographing their more subtle and elusive qualities and bringing them to
light so that the more casual observer might appreciate them. Bark, for
example, can have beautiful color and texture but often goes unnoticed.
Not
surprisingly, plants are among his favored photographic subjects but being
an avid outdoorsman who loves hiking, cycling, and sea kayaking, and who
almost never leaves home without his trusty Nikon and somewhat portly
tripod, almost any part of the natural world is fair game.
